Looking for a modern, refined and eco-responsible Moroccan Rugs for your interior decoration? Our range of Berber Moroccan Rugs consists of unique pieces unearthed in the Atlas Mountains and exclusively hand-woven with natural wool. You will find the different styles and illustrations as well as the symbolic origin of the motifs of these carpets made in the pure Berber tradition.
Morocco has a very long tradition of weaving some of the most beautiful carpets in the world. These beautiful carpets have been woven since the eighth century, when the Berber tribes settled in Morocco. For more than a thousand years, the women of the tribes have hand-knotted carpets from the wool of the sheep they raise at the top of the Atlas Mountains. Even today, the tribes live in the mountains, and the know-how is passed on from mother to daughter.
The patterns and colors of Moroccan carpets are unique because they are made by hand, without following a pattern. The weaver includes important experiences and events of her life in the carpet. Symbols that represent love, nature and happiness are frequently found in Moroccan rugs . The bright natural colors, such as blue, red, orange, yellow and purple, come from plants and berries, such as the henna bush, pomegranate, fig and tea leaf, that grow in the Atlas Mountains. The natural black color comes directly from the wool of sheep and goats in the mountainous regions.
The women of the various Berber tribes each decide on the design, colors and shape of their carpet, so no two carpets are alike. Trendcarpet photographs all the rugs it receives, and all Moroccan rugs are in stock and shipped within 24 hours. Trendcarpet collaborates with a local carpet merchant at the foot of the Atlas Mountains, who travels weekly to the mountain to buy Beni Ourain, Azilal, Boucharouette and other kilims from the Berber tribes. We therefore have access to antique, semi-antique and new Moroccan carpets of fantastic quality, at a much lower price than normal.
